Running on Empty

Rough day today and its only 5pm. It started off great after almost tripling up at a cash table, ended up leaving with two times my buyin and from there I thought today was gonna be another great day… turned out to be far from it. › Continue reading

$400 Guaranteed NL Holdem Tournament
$3.30 buy-in, R/A – Add-on for 2000 chips
I added on at start of this game to give myself some fold chips and glad I did as these players that were at my starting table were horrible. The amount of rebuys they made so early was to be expected because of the hands they were raising then calling all-ins with. › Continue reading

MiniSOP Event #21
Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 | Tournaments | 4 Comments
Another deep finish in the Mini Series of Poker Event #21 $30 HORSE on FullTilt Poker which I put a lot expectations on myself to do well, in fact I am disappointed that I didn’t final table but I did make a run for it.
This was a $15k GTD tournament, with 877 entrants the prize pool got juiced up to $26,310 and paying the top 96. In all fairness this is a decent turn out which I had estimated we would get 800-900, there was a couple players who thought it would reach 1000 with late registration and offered a side bet but since I did not know them I passed on that.

Donking the DeepStack
Sunday, June 7th, 2009 | Tournaments | 3 Comments
The ladies (pinky and appers) and I registered early Vince and Gunn joined us for the $2 DeepStack last night. Its a good tournament to get into, there are not to many players and with 3000 starting chips and 15min blinds allows for some ‘poker’ to be played. It is a daily event but it does start at 11:30pm ET so be aware that it can be a long night, even with the 22 players in it for this game it lasted 3 hours.

Final League Game
Thursday, May 28th, 2009 | Assistanc3Online League | 7 Comments
This was the last league game for Event 1 and we ended it with a $10 buyin kicking in an extra $25 added to the prize pool. With 15 players making the points payouts that much higher too with a couple players looking to fight their way into the top 10 to make the final freeroll.
When I ran up against flushops Aces with my KJs top and nut flush draw I was looking to score a big pot early. I came up empty and that left the window wide open for first place overall on the leader board. Could Brannie or Pinky catch the Donkey of Poker and kick him from top spot? It is gonna be close.
The final table
hokiefan gets knocked around yet again, poor guy has been running cold of late in these last few league games, he gets knocked out holding kings. Hobag try’s to play fancy and he gets knocked out, caporal36 and pitbullplaya follow behind. Short stack Pinky makes her move and gets knocked out then Brannie who ran into some unlucky timing goes out in 5th.

MiniSOP Event #1
Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 | Tournaments | 6 Comments
I played in the Mini Series of Poker this afternoon on Full Tilt Poker If you can’t get to Vegas this year, then this is the place to play poker for the next month, well that is where I will be and I need your money so come play. If not play come rail me at the table, I’ll be playing the June 9th and 21st HORSE buyins.
Event #1 $5.50 Buyin May 27th 15:23 ET
Entrants: 8,297 Prize Pool: $41,485 Places Paid: 1080
One of the first hands I actually get involved in was interesting
[8d 4d] Assistanc3 (4,120) raises to 300 MaybeInTime10 (2,460) calls 200
*** FLOP *** [4h 7s 7h]
MaybeInTime10 checks, Assistanc3 bets 400, MaybeInTime10 raises to 1,800
Assistanc3 has 15 seconds left to act and requested TIME
I’m thinking what could you be raising with that would only be calling from the big blind with your short stack and why are you raising so much? You have two overcards! is what I put them on and made the move to just put them all in.
Assistanc3 raises to 3,200, MaybeInTime10 calls 360, and is all in
Assistanc3 shows [8d 4d] MaybeInTime10 shows [3c 3h]
[4h 7s 7h [5h] [Jd] Assistanc3 wins the pot (4,970) with two pair, Sevens and Fours
OK this shows how bad some players really are, err not the above hand I played common that was skill, wasn’t it? Its about getting good reads from what you have seen so far. This is the icing on the cake about a quickie read, I knew this guy wanted to race but hey kids this isn’t NASCAR.
Blinds: 80/160
Dex420 (5,470) raises to 320, Assistanc3 (6,935) raises to 6,935, and is all in
Hello McFly? What you put me on 72o? Dex420 calls 5,150, and is all in
Assistanc3 shows [As Ah] Dex420 shows [Ad Qc]
*** RIVER *** [Qh Ks 4h [9s] [7c]
*** SUMMARY ***
Some players are just really bad, please take advantage of that.
I dunno, was it because of the previous hand where I played the 84d? I was very snug all game leading up to that and beyond. Cut your loses and muck high card preflop specially with blinds that low.
The next couple hours was rather slow and not making stacks of chips but at the same time I wasn’t losing any, simply picking up some small pots and using my image to my advantage. When I got to be low stack I cracked Aces with KJs turning a straight, that hand got me through another payout level.
It was sick tho, seeing so many monster hands go at it right after break.
Aces, Kings and Queens vs Jacks, Tens and Nines.
I was fortunate enough to be dealt 92o while that was going on, well there was one hand I would have stacked about 90k if I had played K2, would have made a full house and cracked Aces and Queens. So I continue on with my low stack and scored some late position moves praying my image gets them to fold.
Finished in 423
Flopped Trip Kings and slowed played
With the payout structure paying 271-360 I decided to make the call all-in on the river anyways and just hoped he didn’t make the flush, the pot was just to big to fold and folding would have left me with only 9 big blinds -antes. Its the right play on the river the only play in question was could I push him off the flop or turn? I honestly don’t think I could because he played a lot of Ace rag even vs the big stacks.
I really am enjoying playing these larger entrant games when I have the time to play. I’ve cashed both of my last two FullTilt games, this game and the MiniFTOPS Event #24. Thank-You to foldilox who came to the table to wish me luck and appers cheering me on aswell : )

Getting Back 2 Even
Thursday, May 21st, 2009 | Cash Table | 1 Comment
Last night, around 10pm I was gonna head out and play a live cash game with some friends but the hour previous to that I sat with WyldBillH at the cash tables to pass the time and make a few bucks.
It started off well as I left the table 5mins to 10 up… but I wasn’t gone long
seems no one was home, can only guess they are playing somewhere else tonight and didn’t want me to show up and take their money : ( So I was a little upset but none the less can still play poker in my underwear at home.
Back to the cash table where it seems Corey has turned into a folding machine or just not feeling it tonight with the LCD felt, maybe a beer short of calling for a river straight, dunno.
I make the biggest blunder in grinding at the cash table, calling off my stack on a draw although it would have cracked aces full. It was just stupid to get slow played and then make a gross call on an over bet, there was another player who also called (my reason for calling) but was not smart or sound poker.
Now the real grinding begins and they are making me work for it.
Lucky enough I found someone later on to help me get back 2 even.
Assistanc3 shows [ 3s, Tc ]a full house, tens full of twos
philivoryPCR does not show cards
philivoryPCR shows [ 5d, 9d ]two pairs, nines and fives
Assistanc3 shows [ Qs, 5s ]a flush, queen high
…and just like that I break even

It keeps getting better and bettor here at Assistanc3Online
Those that joined us in the chat room before, during and after the game made everyone feel really welcomed. This little $3 buyin went a long way and not just for points on the leader board, but we had a larger turn out then last weeks $3 game.
oops the Donkey donks out early in 17th place to Murph591
NoKidding Out for Blood
The start of the final table seen NoKidding having almost a 2-1 chip lead over 2nd with 17,500 chips and the trickle down of chips from 2nd – 3rd with twinsie sneaking in with 2265. Attached below is NoK taking down a huge pot taking out sunnywest and crippling trollmax with her Aces.
Cracking the Top Three Aint Easy
With some low stacks and a big stack with the middle being the heavy weights played well to avoid each other to make it into the money…. other then twinsie who had all of Massachusetts watching her tonight. At least one thing good came out of Boston last night, damn Bruins and Celts couldn’t get anything together.
In the Money
WyldbillH and NoKidding looked like they would be going heads up with their big stacks but when twinsie doubled through NoK with KJ-vs-QJ to bring her that much closer (and some much needed chips to post blinds) things go interesting. The blinds got passed around for the next few hands where twinsie slid pass NoK in chips.
When NoKidding called on her open end straight draw with 2 over cards to twinsie’s top pair with QT she was drawing at risk of elimination. The turn and river both blanks ships the chips over to twinsie who moves into the chip lead and a valiant effort by NoKidding rails in 3rd.
Heads Up had twinsie the mass chip leader 50k -15k to WyldbillH
with the blinds being passed back and forth at the start, Corey almost pulls even with a pair of tens on the turn on a well played hand that extruded chips from Jan. For King and Country he says on the turn that produced an Ace while he holds pocket kings. Taking down a monster pot of 67,000 leaving twinsie with 1700, blinds 2000/4000.
WyldBillH takes down this weeks buyin league game, congrats on a solid game

History Made Tonight
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009 | Assistanc3Online League | 2 Comments
The final month to league points and the schedule is listed I thought this would be scrape and nails kinda game tonight and it was a kinda game that makes history.
BoarderDave added $5 in bounties to sweeten the pot, the original idea was to put it on laked13 because no one knew him and we found out later he just registered to the league with the wrong name. The other bounty was on himself.
I picked up some chips after a drought of folding. When I got Aces I raised it up with a caller, foldilox with Queens. The flop had an Ace and I pushed all in. She thought about it and almost timed out but made the call and my trips held up.
laked13 was tearing up the place at the final table hitting some suck outs and some questionable calls that went his way. Taking out a few players and BoarderDaves bounty. This was his game, infact I can’t think of who he didn’t knock out.
Rolling into the final three I got some chips but when I spiked top pair with KQ laked13 flopped 2pair and my night was done. Not much longer after that MasidaPlayer tried to beat the luckbox… but got flushed out on the river.
History Made Tonight
This game was a first. The winning player took out all the bounties.
suck outs or not, laked13 clearly won this game.

Free Entries and Bounties

twinsie put up a $5 secret bounty tonight on WyldBillH and to add to the challenge Ray put up a last longer bet for Hobag. If he can out last me, pomppoker will pay his next two buyins. See why the chat room is fun.
Tournament on First Break
Eight players eliminated and nodelay has 12,412 chips in first place, NoKidding in second with 8960 and POOLDOG in third with 7715. Hobag has been eliminated and the two bounties are still alive.
Final table has nodelay still in first and NoKidding in second. I was writing this part cause I was happy to be in third, a distant third but was making a move until I limped in with AK and hit top pair and called WyldBill’s all-in re raise, who had hit two pair and cripple me.
Down to little chips I push with A2 and POOLDOG raised and sitting on the button with Kings was NoKidding and she wasn’t. Over the top and POOLDOG and I are out. I had A2 and POOL had AT.
The action kept up and the pace was fast this game. The secret bounty twinsie put up was WyldBillH who got knocked out in 5th by nodelay. We got down to the final 3 in the money with nodelay leading away still with 38,849, NoKidding in second with 19,809 and holding onto third is Pkerchef with 7375.
Pkerchef doubled up when he hit his pair of aces on the flop and took some chips from nodelay but when Pkerchef made his stand with Jacks he ran into a king and taken out in 3rd place. The heads up battle was quick and decisive, when NoKidding made a bluff that was called by nodelay.
Was a good game played and a really good month for the Assistanc3Online League players.
The top 3 in the leader board holds onto their position and twinsie moves back into fourth.
